On the footsteps of the most important music halls and monuments of composers in Vienna The music tradition of Vienna starts with emperor Maximilan the first about five hundred years ago. Emperor Maximilan I founded at the beginning of the 16th century the Viennese Boy`s choir and the court orchestra. This walking tour shows you the most important concert halls in Vienna, gives you an insight in the life of composers, conductors and musicians, who lived and worked in Vienna for more than 500 years until today. The visit of the home of some composers, their monuments and their concert halls give you an impression of the Viennese music capital. On our walking tour you get useful recommendations concerning the actual concert and opera program in Vienna. At the end of the tour you can visit the new House of Music and you can conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
City walking tour
On the footsteps of the fortifications and the turkish siege in 1683 Vienna has been besieged for two months by a superior military force of the Ottoman Empire in summer 1683. The Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire has already flew out of the city in the direction of the city of Linz. This was one proof, that the city was close to its conquest. We follow the monuments of the defenders and the historical places of the turkish attacks and you get with the help of plans, images and strategic maps an overview of this decisive battle at the end of the 17th century and its consequences for the whole christian and muslim world until today.
Music and parades at the imperial court:
the charm and glamour of the uniforms ( with a real parade and music examples) Parades at the court of the Habsburg family played over centuries an important role. We follow the footsteps of the Life-Guards, from the times of emperor Maximilan the first in the 15th century, to the Swiss Guard of Maria Theresia, to the special guards of emperor Francis Joseph and Empress Elisabeth in the 19th century. A tradional changing of the guards with music performed by the original Viennese house regiment Number 4, the so called "Hoch- und Deutschmeister", ist the highlight of this walking tour through the main residence of the Hofburg.

Romantic Danube Valley
World Cultural Heritage of the “Wachau” by bus and by boat We visit the beauty of the Wachau, today World Cultural Heritage of the UNESCO. After a busride we reach the old wine-merchants town Krems, center of the wine-trade in the region. We pass charming old villages and steep vineyards. The castles and monasterys of the Wachau valley tell us about the former importance of the trade- and trafficway. We see the castle of Dürnstein, today left in ruins, where King Richard Lionheart was imprisoned several months at the end of the 12th century. During a romantic boat-ride the history comes alive. You can have lunch at the Abbey restaurant at Melk. After Lunchtime we visit the abbey of Melk, one of the most impressive active monasterys in Central Europe, a pearl of Austrian Baroque. We take the way home to Vienna throuh the prealpine region.
Palaces of nobility in Vienna
Architecture and art of noble families from Bohemia, Moravia, Italy, Germany and from other crownlands of the Habsburg Empire Joing this walking tour you come into contact with the art of living of the noble families in the 18th and 19th century. We visit the palaces of the families Lobkowitz, Pallfy, Pallavicini, Liechtenstein, Auersperg, Kinsky etc. This palaces have been centers of music and art in Vienna. Composers, painters, artists performed their compositions in some of the palaces for the first time. Each family had their individual and special interests in politics, art and music and promoted individual personalities at that time.
The architecture of Otto Wagner at Charles`square
Modern architecture between art nouveau style and functional demand Otto Wagner is one of the most important architects around 1900 in Vienna. The big number of buildings of Otto Wagner, commissioned by the imperial familiy, by nobel families, by rich banking and merchant families and by the city council, underline the influence of this architect. The walking tour shows you examples of his early architecture, following the conservative style of the buildings along the boulvard of the Ringstraße, examples of the art nouveau style and landmarks of the revolutionary modern and functional architecture of today.
Mozart in Vienna
his apartements, his life, his music We follow some of Mozarts eleven different adresses during his life in Vienna. We visit some of his concert halls, opera houses and we visit the palaces, where Mozart was used to give his subsrciption concerts. This walking tour gives you an insight of the personality of this unique genious as well and illustration of the circumstances of his life due to politics, culture and art in the period of the enlightment.
